NBA Playoffs 2008 1st Round

It’s only the first round of the NBA Playoffs, and players are talking more than they are playing. Psychological warfare? It all doesn’t make sense to me. If adding fuel to their respective opponents’ fire (like Mamba above) is what pumps all of these players up, then good for them. Just a few comments in tagalog regarding these quotes. Mas malutong kasi.

“The way he was going, we could have put 10 people on the court and probably not been able to stop him.” – Allen Iverson from Yahoo Sports, referring to Kobe Bryant’s 49 point outburst.

Kahit matanda na si Iverson, marunong pa din rumespeto sa ibang players. Isa sha sa mga players na hindi pa nananalo na dapat manalo ng “We are the championship” ala Jun Limpot.

“Better learn not to talk to me. You shake the tree, a leopard’s gonna fall out.” – Kobe Bryant from ESPN, on JR Smith’s “jabbering” during the former’s 49 point explosion.

Langya, ang kapal ng muka mo ulul. Ingay pala ah, o loko, 3-point play ka ngayon. Asa.

“He’s overrated, and you can say I said that.” – DeShawn Stevenson from the Washington Post Blog, on Lebron James’ play

Kaya pala 2-1 ang score ngayon. Isang dakdak ka lang, next game yan humanda ka.

”There’s no DeShawn-LeBron rivalry” – Lebron James’ from SI.com, on reports that there is a budding rivalry between him and DeShawn Stevenson

Tama yan. Wag mo papansinin kasi nakikisakay lang yan sa kasikatan mo.

Dapat lang! Philadelphia hello? Natauhan kayo siguro nung game 1 noh?

“Everything we tried on Paul didn’t work” – Avery Johnson from Yahoo Sports, on Chris Paul’s play after 2 blowout games

Fantasy NBA next year, Chris Paul na #1 pick. Avery asa ka wala ka na din next year. Palakihan nalang ng bibig lol.

“Where is Bibby?” – The Boston Celtics crowd from Yahoo Sports, reacting to some comments that Bibby made.

Ay nako isa ka pa. Boston pa talaga hihiritan eh.

“It was tough to come back and try to play the same way I played the first game, said Howard, who had 25 points and 22 rebounds on Sunday.” – Dwight Howard from Yahoo Sports, two nights after collecting 20 and 20 in a win.

Eto nalang, HINDI KA TAO. Fishing eh.

“If he wants to go in and play amongst those big dudes, they’re going to put him on the ground, and if he can keep getting up and doing it, God bless him.” – Raja Bell from Yahoo Sports, on how Tony Parker keeps on driving to the hoop even if Shaq and Amare are there.

“I think everybody wants Cleveland in that first round” and “We don’t think they can beat us in the playoffs three years straight.” – Gilbert Arenas on Suburban Chicago News, on the possibility of the Cavs beating them 3 straight years.

Hindi na nga nakakalaro wala pa din pigil sa salita. Pupulutin ka nalang sa kangkungan ang laki ng bibig mo maglaro ka nalang kasi puro satsat.

Whew. I think that sums up most of the 1st round drama we’re seeing. My only wish? For all the 1st round series’ to reach Game 7. Except the Lakers of course (for obvious reasons). :)
