Metrobank is DownSince you are now on this page, I’m guessing you’re already as frustrated and pissed as I am about Metrobank. You can find more rants here and here. Well, everyone looking forward to a Saturday at the mall are just going to have to *ulp* – wait. Why? Because you can’t even troop down to the nearest branch and make an over the counter withdrawal.

Sure, you’re going to have to put off buying those shoes you’ve always wanted for a few more days (we hope), but what about the people who have to pay the bills today?

I guess the question is, how accountable can Metrobank be because of this unfortunate situation?

Even when I worked in Summit Media, the Metrobank branch in Galleria was always conspicuously offline on paydays. Because my payroll account was with Equitable, I was alright. And besides, I could withdraw from any other bank and only get charged a minimal fee. But if you can’t withdraw from anywhere? Now that’s a different story.

I had planned on funding a check during my lunch break (Thank God the 16th falls on a Sunday), but unfortunately, I don’t think it’s going to be possible now. The people at the Metrobank call center are probably giving general answers like — we’re having a system upgrade, etc. WTF, they don’t even have any kind of announcement on their website.

Once all this mess is ironed out, what is Metrobank going to do to make up for all this inconvenience? I don’t think I’m going to be able to go after them if I don’t make my check payment, and I’m not expecting any kind of corrective action at all.

Needless to say, they can expect a lot of account closures starting Monday.  I’d sure hate to be on their marketing team right now. :P
