Neyo in Manila

When I found out that Ne-yo was coming to Manila, I told myself I wouldn’t watch because the girlfriend was out of the country. On my way to work this morning, Wave 89.1 was having some kind of scavenger hunt for 9 teams. The prize? Actual backstage passes to the concert. Wow. And then after each commercial break, they would play songs he either sang or wrote.

I just realized, there was just no way I was going to miss this concert. Kahit general admission lang.

I immediately texted my brother and told him to find out if general admission tickets were still available. After a few minutes, he texted and said the people at Araneta said there were still 2,000+ tickets left. Hence, we made plans to meet up at the venue by 7pm.

Since my younger sister wanted to go, we decided to treat it as a date between siblings. It’s funny because the only time we do this is if my parents aren’t around (we can never eat at a restaurant that’s not either Chinese or Filipino when my irate dad is around — he’s that picky). Sunday lunches without the folks meant pigouts at any pizza resto in the vicinity (did I say my dad abhors anything edible that’s not Chinese or Filipino?).

Going back to my story, I was surprised my sister wanted to go because just 3 weeks before, she had torn a ligament in her ankle. My immediate instinct was to tell her to call Araneta and find out if they allowed wheelchairs in the general admission section.

*Bright cheap idea*

I thought to myself, if they didn’t allow wheelchairs in general admission, maybe they could hook us up and place us somewhere in the patron section. Of course, we still had to make sure.

Hello po, kasi yung kapatid ko naka wheelchair, may way ba para iakyat yun sa general admission?”

Yung mga disabled po sa main floor namin pinapaupo.”

Kahit general admission yung ticket?”

Opo.”

There was one catch.

Pero sha lang po ang pwede, yung iba sa general admission pa din.”

IF I had known this information earlier, it would have been easy for my to put an elastic bandage around my leg and borrow a wheelchair from someone. Imagine, I would have been somewhere near the stage for free. Oh well, I’m just glad I’m here. Just in case you’re wondering, I’m now inside Araneta, waiting for the concert to start.

I guess the whole point of this blog post is — if you want to watch Game 7 of the All Filipino Finals on Sunday, borrow a bandage, wheelchair, and pretend like you can’t walk :D
