On Internet Marketing and Self-promotion
Part of my duties as a publisher in my previous job was to present the brand I was handling to potential advertisers. Not only did I have to make tailor made presentations to each advertiser, I had to make sure that I was available whenever they had concerns or requests that had to be addressed. If there’s one thing I learned about myself through that practice, it’s that self promotion made me uncomfortable.
- I used to work with FHM.
- I launched the first local videogame magazine in the Philippines.
- I worked with the biggest gadget magazine in the country.
- I handled the Philippine edition of the world’s largest and most influential men’s magazine.
You know what, even if these things are hard to say, this stuff is true.
This brings me to the Internet Marketing Bootcamp we kicked off last week. An officemate wrote about it here. It’s funny, but I’ve never thought of myself as a resource person. I just thought of myself as someone who was always at the right place at the right time. Though I talked in front of agency people a lot, seeing myself in a picture was a different thing.
I talk about my experiences from my previous job a lot because US Auto Parts Philippines’ initiatives for the first quarter of this year reminded me of the things I had to go through when I was searching for direction in my professional career. I was sure I wanted to be in media, but there was nothing concrete. Yet, through patience and perseverance, everything fell into place.
Once you’ve had the chance to sit through one of US Auto Parts’ Internet Marketing Bootcamps, you’ll realize that even if you start from the bottom of the profession ladder (and this goes for any kind of job), you have the chance to become a part of something big. Internet Marketing is the future.
Just click on this link to request for an invite to one of our seminars. You have to remember, I left a job that allowed me to ogle on FHM babes on a daily basis, and here I am, proud to be a member of US Auto Parts Philippines.
