What Everyone Wanted this Christmas

I’d like to think I had a happy childhood. Do you remember how it used to be when you weren’t obliged to get a job, but still had the privilege of choosing a toy or gadget for your birthday? Damn, I certainly miss those times.
On my 17th birthday, no one knew except me that a new Playstation was going to be the newest member of the family. When he found out, even my dad wasn’t the least bit surprised by the demand request, as videogames had already become a big part of my childhood. The same can be said of the people in the office. You wouldn’t even have any difficulty figuring out where everyone’s 13th month pay went.
Videogame love/addiction aside, my inspiration for this blog post actually came from a realization about the things I would have wanted to give the special people in my life this past Christmas…
- Dad- One of those kick-ass Osim massage chairs
- Mom – A cruise for her and my dad (so she can rest without having to worry about anything)
- My kuya and his family – Nothing. Because they already have everything. Can you say PS3, Xbox360, WII in one house? Seriously.
- My sister and her family – A yearly ticket to the Philippines and Boracay (I know how much she misses us, the same way we miss her)
- Kitin, my younger sister – A white Macbook (enough said)
- Francis, my younger brother – An Imac (which I will use also bwahaha)
- And of course, for my Mariel – A shopping spree + a new Macbook (She’s had hers for more than 5 years and it still works!)
Let’s get it straight, I’m not trying to make myself feel bad, nor were my gifts for them worthless. Going into the new year, I just wanted to give myself a few tangible (albeit materialistic) goals. You can say it’s my own version of the whole “reaching for the starts and falling on the roof†battlecry…
Also, I wanted to give some advice to the few people (for now
) who read my blog. It doesn’t matter if I know you or I don’t, but if it’s going to take a handheld gaming system to make you feel better about yourself and what you’ve achieved, then by all means GO FOR IT. Just don’t max out your credit card
Happy New Year everyone!:D
